ALBANY, NY -- Oct. 26, 2026 -- Semi-reclusive acoustic soul rock singer-songwriter BUGGY JIVE launches a limited run of headlining shows in intimate listening rooms - - including venues in Syracuse, Saratoga Springs and Washington, D.C. - - to spread the good word about his forthcoming album Daedalus Down and its so-called prequel, 2025's award-winning Icarus Ascending.

Specific dates follow:

"It's a big deal, these are bucket list venues for me," he says. "And yes, I'm a little scared."

Which is totally on brand for an artist who has spent much of his music career in hiding.

Buggy Jive has long been considered a musical recluse of sorts since releasing his debut album The Buggy Jive Mixtape in 2018, quietly uploading creatively self-produced soul rock albums and music videos from his basement home studio in Upstate New York.

But in recent years the singer-songwriter has emerged from the basement for select few solo-acoustic live shows in intimate settings, including well-received opening act sets for Macy Gray at the Troy Music Hall and Ben Folds at Saratoga New Years Eve, as well as a string of Northeast tour dates in March of this year in support of Righteous Babe Records' singer-songwriter Joy Clark.

The new music and upcoming tour dates arrive as Buggy Jive continues to level up in 2026 with a string of career successes, including an official showcase at Folk Alliance International's annual conference in New Orleans, the aforementioned shows supporting Joy Clark, and a sweep in four categories at the New York Capital Region’s "Eddies" music awards, including Singer-Songwriter of the Year and Album of the Year for Icarus Ascending.

Set for a Dec. 8 release, Daedalus Down is a sequel of sorts to Icarus Ascending. What began as a short EP of outtakes from the Icarus record quickly morphed and expanded into a full album of nine all-new songs, each written and recorded by Buggy in his basement home studio in the first few months of 2026. Each song on Daedalus has a thematic counterpart on Icarus, with more lyrics contemplating songwriting and storytelling, love and literature, and the festering fears of a divided nation.

CDs of Daedalus Down will be available at the Caffè Lena show; the recently released punk folk single “Meaning in the Morning” and its soul folk follow-up “Love at 50 Percent” are currently streaming.

ABOUT BUGGY JIVE

BUGGY JIVE is a somewhat reclusive soul rock singer-songwriter, known for quietly uploading music from a basement in Upstate New York. Equal parts Zeppelin and D’Angelo and Prince and Joni in sound and sensibility, his lyrics often mine the literature of the past to make sense of the present – from Ellison to Morrison to Eliot to Didion – delicately balancing the heaviness with humor. His forthcoming album Daedalus Down is a sequel of sorts to 2025's award-winning Icarus Ascending. Daedalus is set for a Dec. 8, 2026 release and promises 9 more acoustic soul rock songs contemplating songwriting and storytelling, love and literature, and the festering fears of a divided nation.

The artist is a graduate of Niskayuna High School in Schenectady, NY, and Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT (a “recovering English major,” as he says). Despite the title of his recent semi-viral hit and Tiny Desk Contest feature “Don’t Quit Your Day Job,” he may have recently quit his day job in digital communications at an educational non-profit headquartered in New York's Capital Region to focus on music full time. He lives in Delmar, NY, with his wife and two daughters.
